Other events in July enjoyed by several of our members were a Cream Tea provided by St Mary Cray branch and a coach outing to Losely House, Guildford, organised by St  Paul’s Crofton. Our own annual outing, on 14 July, was to Teapot Island, Yalding. After a pottery demonstration and  a visit to the teapot museum, we were treated to a tour of Yalding Church and  a welcome cup of tea by the local Mothers’ Union branch.

Mothers’ Union Prayer Group: 1980-2010

In August the MU Prayer Group will celebrate 30 years of its existence.  The very first meeting took place on the second Wednesday of August 1980, and it was with great trepidation that a few members met together to work at creating a short service during which we could pray for the work of the Mothers’ Union, the sick and elderly and world disasters both man-made and natural.

I think that we may justly feel proud that this small centre of prayer has continued so constantly throughout such a long period, and although we are few in number we hope that it may continue in the future.
